Default Help identifying a new acquisition

This is my first posting on the forum so if its in the wrong location please forgive my ignorance.

I have a DWM P08 with the correct DWM barrel, receiver and toggle proof stamps The serial number stamped on the underside of the barrel is 6924A. the proof marks are on the left side of the barrel, receiver and toggle. There are two other proof marks on the receiver to the left of the DWM proof mark but I can't make them out.

The grip is stamped 79.R.7.1 I know this means it's the first pistol issued but I have no idea to what outfit.

I'm assuming this is a 1908-1914 production piece manufactured for the Imperial Forces. Any information anyone can provide would be appreciated

Hi Harry, Welcome to the forum! The proof marks on the left of the receiver (not the right as on later guns) identify your Luger as a very collectible DWM 1st Issue, made in 1909. The unit mark on the grip strap translates to: 79th Regiment, 7th Company, weapon #1. Regards, Norm

Harry,

Welcome to the Forum.

We love seeing pictures of your Luger here. Post some (take them using indirect light (like shade outdoors) and a tripod for sharp focus. If you use the "Add Reply" button rather than a quick reply, it's easy to add them as attachments.

When we get a look at it, it might be possible to tell you more about your Luger.

Marc
