1917 Erfurt with bluing loss opinion
Went and looked at a 1917 Erfurt yesterday, all matching except for the magazine. Problem is the bluing loss on the side of the frame. The seller describes it as "blood pitting", that makes no difference to me. I ran my finger over the raised area on the frame and it almost felt like it had been sanded. The contour seemed a little odd, but this could have totally been my own imagination. The finish on the other side of the pistol and the top of the pistol was decent (90% or so). Would this be worth it at 800$, and would there be a way to professionally reblue this one area? Thanks Chris..

I can't bring the photos in enough to see the detail of the damage, but Ted Green (Thor) is the one to ask. He's on Facebook and occasionally checks in here too.

I would leave it as is. 10% original finish is better than 100% refinish.

You asked if it would be worth $800 and I would vote that yes it would.

If this Erfurt Luger is all there, and functions properly, then yes, it is worth $800 in my way of thinking.

To me the so called blood pitting doesn't add to the value.
What that Nazi cross has to do with it? In any case I would leave it the way it is.
