Default YouTube Luger

I recently watched a video on YouTube covering the surrender in Germany. An open car drove up and was stopped. The occupant of the right front seat was ordered out. He was a Luftwaffe Hauptmann
armed with an obvious P-08 on his hip. The vehicle was searched and the officer was directed back into the vehicle with the Luger still on his hip!
This was interesting for the MP missing the Luger and for the fact that it proves that some Lugers were really taken off dead officers

I highly doubt that the many allied soldiers in the area would not spot this - on more than one occasion you hear of the officer being allowed to keep their weapon, but perhaps that is hollywood

Lots of images of troop movements out of the East to surrender. Most appear to be armed. Lots of variations of events in those times. Nothing should be surprising.
There is a clip of a surrendering assault gun unit with operational Jagtigers entering and forming up in a town and the troops dismounting and stacking arms.
Friend of mine speaks of a formation of Japanese troops marching in formation to a collection point an dropping their gear.
