Default Using an online translator, this portion translates as "Iran Army"

Like all lawyers, who are perfectly willing to express an opinion about anything; without any knowledge of the subject whatsoever, (as you well know, John), I bet it's a date.

Hey Guys,

I will be back in my office tomorrow morning and we have several guys from Egypt, Iran, Iraq, that work for my compnay that I know real well. After early meetings, I will see who is avaiable that can translate for me and report back what they say. The inscription is in Farsi, so anyone that speaks should be able to translate for me. I will try my friend Haddi from Iran first. I will advise as soon as I get it translated.

John,

I did talk with one Iranian today and he was having a hard time translating the inscription. The word on top is "Iran". As you know, Farsi is read from the right to the left, and the first word is Capital, or Central. The next to the last word is Colonel. I have another Iranian at work I will try to see tomorrow. he was in meetings all day today. I will keep you posted as soon as I get an answer. The Egyptian can read the letters, but can't understand the words. I will keep plugging away.

Default thanks Marvin, we have one translation, but I figured an independent

2nd Opinion would confirm or negate the first. Either George or I will post the first translation after you get the rest of yours pieced together...

So far, your translator(s) have been batting 1000 compared to the first.

This has been very interesting!

John,

I talked with another Iranian at the office this afternoon and the best I can get is the forst word is "Iran" the second line is Central or Capital Education, ????, ????, and ????, ???, to Colonel, ????. The last word may be a name of the individual, they are not sure.

Both can read the words, but don't know what they mean. Sorry, but this looks like the best I can do.

Default Marvin - thanks... that is very close to the translation George got...

Iranian Army

This is a present from the "center of mortorized and armoured education" to the general evans.

Obviously the word for the rank of the recipient is in question, my guess is that it is more likely that he was a colonel when the gift was received...

So I am of the opinion that this is a genuine artifact of not only Luger history, but of our relations with Iran...

Nice catch George! Wish it were mine! -John
