Thumbs up New collecter needs help.

My son has gotten into collecting U.S. Military patches. He is 11 years old. Some of you have met him. And I would apriciate all the help he can get. We just listed some extra patches on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MESE%3AIT&rd=1

Thanks for all the help..

Russ,

I do not understand the rules at Ebay as to what is allowed and what is not. What did Ebay find wrong with U.S. Military patches? I cannot come up with any reason as to why the patches would not be allowed.

Russ,
I have two nifty 17"X22" posters of WWII sholder patches suitable for framing that were printed up by FORSCOM Public Affairs Office for the 50th anniversary of WWII. They probably do not have every patch worn in WWII but I would guess most of them are represented (about 200 altogether). Full color and brand new condition. As Jerry said, shoot me your address and your son will have something to hang on his wall and see if he can collect all the patches shown.

I just looked at e-bay's rules and it does explicitly exclude trading.

I guess e-bay can't get their cut on a trade.

It is a shame that the patches aren't "haunted" by an old man with a cane or carved into a piece of toast. Then he could sell them all and make enough money to pay for college!!!

I am joking of course, that is not a good lesson to teach your son.

If he collects newer patches I may be able to get him some patches from several of the air guard units in the area.

Russ, those dummybutt's at e-bay amaze me... Still, this can be a lesson, big business doesn't care about a new collector like a bunch of older experienced collectors do . Warms my heart.

Russ,

I have a few extra patches around here. Shoot me your address and I'll get them out when I get back from Ft. Lewis. Also, I have a complete Dress Uniform with 2 great coats (one cashmere dress, one wool field), from a major in the 32nd Inf. Div... patches still applied to most of the shirts, coats, etc. (he later was recalled to Korea and some of the uniform items have a different division on them). If he's interested in these items as well, if he'll pay shipping, I'll throw in a WW2 US officer's suit case and a couple of pair of minty British Hospital pj's he was issued after a run-in with a little German iron at Bastogne. These items are in excellent condition with no mothing. I am moving to Houston within the month and after 7 transfers in 11 years and 2 moves within the last 18 months... I'm just not inclined to haul it around any longer. If he can use it to expand his focus or as barter to get what he really wants, that will be great. I think I even have an unissued Korean Vintage US helmet I can toss in.

I started collecting when I was about 8 by going around the neighborhood and asking guys about my Dad's age if they'd been in the service and if they had anything they could donate to my "museum"... It's about time I passed a little of it on.
