Commercial Mauser Rifles
I would like to know if anyone here likes Commercial Mauser rifles such as the Type A, B, K, S and M series rifles. I recently picked up a rifle that closely resembles a Type B in 9.3x62mm. The rifle has a commercial mauser buttplate three leaf sights and a lever release floorplate. The rifle has the small sporting stock which is numbered to the receiver. I was just curious as to if anyone else here likes these rifles.

Amos,
I would like to have a pile of them. I love German Sporters and Stalking rifles. Not sure of the model designations, but I do like them. Eventually, if I can locate a nice one. I want at least one Mannlicher Schoenauer in a classic caliber. Ron

Ron,
I also like the Mannlicher Schoenauer rifles. I would have to say that my favorite of all the Mannlicher Schoenauers is the Model 1903 in 6.5x54. Hopefully one day I will find a spot in my safe for one. I have a few iron sighted mauser sporters that I hunt with each year. To see the look on the guys faces when I show up with an iron sighted rifle at hunting camp is priceless. I have killed several deer with these rifles and none have went over 25 yards, i guess it all comes to shot placement. |
