I have a ww1 luger that has been in my family for many years that my father has asked for me to try to get some information for him on. I have no idea on how to go about this. Can you help guide me through this?

To help you; give us; date on chamber what it says on the top of the toggle (DWM or Erfurt) serial number to include the letter (suffix) on the front of the frame any other items that came with it? Known story of how aquired? Can you provide digital pictures? Ed PS: Also any proofs or other markings on each side of it. |

DWM was the original manufacturer of the luger, the date of 1915 is when it was made. A small case g would mean it was 83,040 luger made in 1915. The finish is probably nickle and was done by many GI's in the 1950's or even earlier, but was not original and the collector value would be minimal. The pearl grips would also not be original to the gun.
You can use the ADD REPLY and post one picture at a time. If they are too large you ahve to shrink them, if you do not know how to do this, send them to me; [email protected] |

Yes, these grips are aftermarket, in fact, I have a luger with some on it, they are from the last 30-40 years;
The nickle is aftermarket as I thought. It makes a nice example, although the collector value is not there. The holster appears to be a bulgarian type, but we'd need to see it closer. I would guess total value is around $450-$600 for everything.... Ed mine: |
