Some Interesting Site Statistics...
For those interested in such things...I just visited the website Alexa.com and obtained these interesting statistics about our website... I speculated in a post a couple of weeks ago that it appeared that our membership registrations were occuring at faster pace than I have ever seen before... these stats seem to substantiate that theory...
"Reach" for Lugerforum.com Percent of global Internet users who visit this site 3 mos. Avg. 3 mos. Change 0.000005% (Up) 67% "Traffic Rank" for Lugerforum.com Traffic rank based on a combined measure of page views and users (reach) 3 mos. Avg. 3 mos. Change 5,590,050 (Up) 1,282,485 Page Views per user for Lugerforum.com The number of unique pages viewed per user per day for this site 3 mos. Avg. 3 mos. Change 1.0 (Down) 50% I think the last statistic is the most interesting of all to me...

I have seen a lot of "spam" users get made, then they fail the test, which I don't know the test, i would presume a real email address has to be used. So, it creates an account, trys to look around and fails, and leaves....

Steinar,
You left out the most important line... the description of the activity: "The number of unique pages viewed per user per day for this site" For the last 3 months, the average number of pages viewed by visitors is only one (1)... and previously, it must have been two (2), so that number is down by 50%. I hope that is helpful.

I would attribute a lot of it to spammers, they attempt to come on by signing in, then John's program stops them (I have seen them signed in and they disappear), it might also be because they are using false email credentials. We get a lot of spammers at Jan's forum, but unless you have a real email address it just won't go any further than attempting to sign up.
if these are actual users, then it is hard for me to beleive they'd look at one page and disappear? 2 or 3 pages maybe, see the site is about old guns, but one page tells me it was a false attempt or total mistake.... ed

I think all the reasons offered for the way the stats look are plausible... one other consideration is that many may have the URL for the "New Topics" search saved as a bookmark. They may only hit that page, and if they don't see a subject that interests them, they don't go any further.
When the forum first opened in this country (it was originally hosted on a free server in Taiwan of all places)... I think it was 1994 or 95 when it was moved to it's present hosting location (New Hampshire). there used to be a link on the home page for stats. I think... (remember I am almost 60 years old so I THINK, I don't remember everything) that the stats included a summary of the countries from which visitors originated, and also there was a link or a report summary page that showed the most prolific users based on the number postings... ... nowadays, each post you make has a total showing the number of posts you have made since you joined, but there is no summary report showing how that compares to other members... Maybe if John Dunkle has some spare time (who does these days?) he can find time to resurrect that stats page if it is important to the members...

For those that keep track of such things... we (the Lugerforum) have broken another membership threshold... This weekend member gew98 registered as our 5000th member since we opened the doors on this new format... and to think back in the mid '90s there were only about 25 of us!
Congrats to the membership for making this website the success that it is...

Congrads, free speach at its absolute. I would please remind all that speech come with resonsibily. For the simple slip of the tongue, could be just as deadly, as a pull on a trigger, once released from the silos of mistate or anger, they are just as deadly.Remember, it took but one finger to start the first world war, a push of another to end our second. Our freedom thrives on common sence, and I hope we realize, that free choice, is a privalege, that can easily lost, as easily as it was given.

I am a newbie here, kind of new to Lugers. This site is now and has been one of my "sites of choice!" It is so much better then the other sites I check from time to time!
My main interest has been the M1 Garand and if any of their sites were half as well done as this one I might frequent them as well! Sorry to say none even come close! Your work here has just increased my interest in Lugers! Keep up the great work Rob |

Kudos to the moderators, and members. I'm one of the new member stats.
A little (very little) effort produced a great deal of information. Thanks for keeping the information on the stickies organized. The videos on You Tube were very helpful in field stripping and reassembly. However, they took awhile to find. Can they be added to the Luger Videos page? I spoke to my local police station the other day about getting my new to me Luger registered, and they said they have seen quite a few lugers in to be registered lately. Kurt |

A lot of 'closet' lugers are coming to be known because we are losing so many WW2 vets. Almost 1800 a day from the last stats I have seen. God Bless them all.
