I forgot I owned a luger...

I have a WW1 luger, navy I think, that has been at the gunsmiths for 15 years "getting rebarreled". Well I remembered and called, he is still alive, now I just gotta get it back asap so you guys can help me get it running again!. Who has a parts website so I can start snooping prices on bits and pieces?. Thanks in advance. DK

Wow, hard to believe someone could just forget they owned a Luger. lol that's like finding gold you forgot you had

As far as getting parts for a Luger... other than marstar i don't know. What is wrong with the firarm itself... is it missing anything? or are some parts just broken/worn?

If you had to go trough the application process and requirements needed to own a pistol here in Europe, you would not forget it.. in fact, the governemt would remember it for you, and take it away unless able to verify active membership as competition shooter..

Luger fans from Europe...that's rough!. At least you guys can have intact receivers on your display firearms, we receive ours torch cut in 3 pieces and have to piece them back together with big solid blocks inside to disable them, or reconfigured for semi-auto only firing. When ever I go to egun website in germany, I lust after the pristine MG42 "guhause"(receivers) they get to own......all they have to do is disable the barrel and bolt. I am not sure what parts I will need yet, I just like to be on top of who has what....just in case.

The Lugerdoc on this forum has helped me get my Luger running. Great guy to deal with and has had everything I needed for parts.

Who's the gunsmith that takes 15 years to get a pistol rebarreled? I might need to make sure I never take any work to him. I suppose you had asked for "rush" service too?

A shame you had to rebarrel a Navy in the first place.

The gunsmith is the worlds most talented welder, but his OCD tends to throw him a bit!. Some display weapons can be cool. Only certain things must be "display", or as my buds call them , "dogs that can't hunt!".

'display firearms' reminds me of something.. I have a matching C96 Oberndorf Mauser incl stock laying around. Bought it for the extractor some time ago. Will post in under the 'for sale' section for those interested (and legaly can purchase it)

Ater 15 years, the barrel should not come back like this;

I'm using a ww2 K98 rifle converted into 30.06 for hunting deer and moose, my plan was to replace the original barrel with a new one. There are so many of these rifles here in norway, that they cost only 1000NOK (=181USD) each. I guess the gunsmith didn't see the value in an old k98 barrel

Steinar, is that 1000NOK for a rebarreled 30.06 K98k? Or for an original 8x57? At that price range I'd be thankful to learn some links for Norwegian dealers who sell K98k's? Especially if there are 8x57 original ones on the market!

I used to own a Norwegian reconditioned perfect condition K98k in 7.62 Nato. Looked like a genuine K98k except for a small stamp with the caliber and new serial. I sold it to get an original 8x57 instead.

Mikkel, almost in every shop they sell rifles here, they have K98's. Perhaps this it the biggest 'distributor' is; http://www.landro.no/

Most for s have been trough the military, converted into 7.62 (30.06) and stamped "HÃ??R" (army). Normal price for such a rifle is 1000NOK.
A more collector grade K98 in 8x57 would 2-3 times that amount, but still it's a cheap rifle and good value for the money

We have many of the 30.06 conversions, but the ones I'm after are the 8x57 specimens. A friend of mine has a S/42 1937 which is untouched except for the HÃ??R stamp. Such rifles would be nice to find, even non matching numbers. As long as they look original and retain the original caliber. My shooter K98k is of course 8x57
