Want to know value of a luger
My wife's father had this pistol and we would like an honest valuation, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Numbers match except clip.

Did your Father-in-Law bring it back, or did he buy it? If you have Bring back papers it would up the value. Others will be on soon to tell you more than I can! I think that it is a re-blue though.

Not a reblue, just very rough condition. Because of the finish issues an otherwise nice, matching Mauser 41 has been reduced to maybe a $900-$1,000 gun.

This looks like a job for Thor. It isn't deeply pitted, it just needs a bit of surface work and re-finish.
Also, are we all in agreement that it is a blued finish, not black parkerizing as in a Portugese contract gun? I question that because of the picture from the top of the chamber that sort of looks like a powdery black finish/texture. dju |

Doug is being overly generous in today's economy IMO. Mauser 41 has been reduced to maybe a $900-$1,000 gun.
The rust & corrosion has a mad dog grip on this once fine pistol. If I ran into a pistol like this I would offer $600 max. Unless another $8-900 were invested ...it will always be a shooter. Condition is King in getting high dollar and this one is a knave.

we have no history, the pics are from a cheap digital camera, and I thought it best not to try any cleaning for fear of irreversable damage (it is very dusty because it was in a framed holder that he kept on the wall). I do thank you all for your input. I did not know if any of the troop numbers made it more valuable or not. I did not have the audacity to take it apart to check numbers on the firing pin especially after seeing the animation of a luger in action here at the luger forum. thanks again.

This gun can use a restoration , with a black widow magazine , fully restored gun can bring $1500-$1700 back. Others can correct me if i am overshooting the numbers. I can restore it for about $600 , give or take. More details if i have it in my hands. New set of springs, functions check and full inspection is part of the restoration. But a waiting list for me is about 8 month. Thanks.

this is not a auction, nor is it somewhere to publicly spout your business in this manner. You can send the person a discrete note if you desire, but you're skirting the edges of the forum rules....

Thank you all for the input on this gun. My father was in law enforcement his entire life, and a collector of guns. Unfortunately he passed away in 199 and I do not remember any history on this pistol. It hung on a frame in various offices that he worked, and then at home. I am not looking to have gun restored, but am looking for a buyer, to give me the best price possible. There is no sentimental value. My daughter and I are going on a Mission Trip, and are trying to raise money. If anyone is interested in purchasing, please let me know. Thank you again, for all your input. Mrs. Jober 2
