Default Hello, new member with 1st Luger

Hi everyone, I am a WWII buff and of course a gun enthusiast. I had bought an AR-15 for $500 and just today traded the AR for a numbers matching, 42 code (Mauser), 1940 P-08.

Unfortunately I live in New Jersey so I must wait for a pistol permit to bring it home, but it is mine. When it's home I'll take it apart and take more pictures, anything in particular I should look for?

Eventually I want a WW1 Luger as well, then I will be happy.

Mike, welcome to the forum

You will want to ensure it is all matching, to include the small parts on the inside.

It appears to have a pre-WW2 wooden based magazine (should have an aluminum base)

Welcome to the forum.

IMO I would have put the AR up for sale at $2500 first before trading.

I had actually posted it on Armslist for $1400 with no takers... trading for a Luger is plenty enough for me

Hi Mike,

Congratulations on your new Luger and welcome to the forum.

These Mauser made Lugers are particularly well made and wonderful examples of precision manufacture.
