If they have a great many boxes, you might make a few bucks by buying 10 or 20 boxes and sell them here. Won't make you rich but would benefit several members.

I have been purchasing my new Fiocchi 30 Luger ammo from Able's Sporting Goods somewhere in Texas, I just don't remember exactly where. I purchase it 500 rounds at a time, and can beat that price by a few dollars/box. I have to pay shipping, but not sales tax.

The price has gone up since my last purchase by about $3.00/box when ordering 500 rounds. The Fiocchi ammo was sent UPS ground, and the weight was 12lbs. From Texas to Southern Az., the shipping was $14.75. All total for ammo and shipping was $217.75. I also reload 30 Luger, but I own one handgun that I converted to 30 Luger from 40cal(Colt Defender), and it will only feed correctly with the Fiocchi ammo. I can not purchase that bullet profile anywhere.....The Hornady, Speer, and LRN bullets that I load with just won't feed in this gun. |

Maybe a feed ramp challenge... (I have no idea what a Colt Defender is) Edit: I don't load lead bullets except in .45 ACP...FMJ all the way!

Postie, the defender is the 1911 style with around a 3" barrel. A friend of mine refers to this type as a "flame thrower'"

The Colt Defender is what some firearm companys refer to as an Ultra Compact model.....3in BBl. It is a feed ramp issue with the 30 luger, but I don't want to alter the feed ramp, so I can convert back with a bbl. and spring change.
The Fiocchi bullet(FMJ) has a correct profile to strike the feed ramp, and continue the feeding process. The profile of the 86gr Hornady, the 86gr Sierra JSP, and Western Bullet Co. LRN will strike the feed ramp and jam the process. Changing OAL does not seem to help much. Those loads also exhibit setback of the bullet when it jams into the feed ramp, which is not desirable in my way of thinking. At least I found one load that works good in this conversion. |

If allowed to ship USPS they should fit in a $ 5.95 "If it fits it ships" box. If so I'll take four boxes.
I'm at [email protected] Thanks Jack |
