Trigger finger punishment
Greetings: I'm new to Lugers, although I've admired them for many, many years. Just got one today, a P-1. After cleaning it up some, I went out to shoot it. Wow! The trigger hammers my trigger finger. Is this normal?
It looks to me like the trigger's uncocked position is pretty well forward within the trigger guard. When cocked, the trigger moves back. I'm guessing that after pulling the trigger, while the piece is reloading itself, there is a moment when it is uncocked causing the trigger to move forward (in a hurry). As soon as the slide has completed its travel, the trigger returns to its cocked position. But wow, when that trigger moves forward it slams into my trigger finger. I'm used to only a few pistols, none of which do what this Luger does. Is the trigger movement normal, and, if so, is it just a matter of technique to avoid the sore finger pad? Any information appreciated. [email protected] |

Re: Trigger finger punishment
P-1s are normally P.38s? and not Lugers? do you mean P.08?

Re: Trigger finger punishment
I think he's talking about a P38. Lugers don't have slides.

Re: Trigger finger punishment
Sorry for the inaccurate information. It just confirms my newness to and ignorance of this subject.
It is indeed a Walther P1 which (as I understand it) is a P38 with an alloy frame. Again, any information will be appreciated. rca |

Re: Trigger finger punishment
You might try the P38 forum for that question, but Orv or Tom Heller might be able to answer it anyway, they are both knowledgeable and helpful people. Try this link too

HOLD EVERYTHING!
As Thor was kind enough to point out, I might have better luck if I take my inquiry to the P38 forum. I had no idea there was one.
Thanks anyway. I'm goin' over there. rca |
