Default Had this in wrong place. New to me luger.

Got this from my grandfather. Not sure how to identify it. The toggle doesn't match but every other number does. It has very little in the way of marks on it.

Hi Jonathan, welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your new Luger.

Condolences on the loss of your relative.

We make a very comprehensive new collector's FAQ available as a PDF file here on the forum. Just click on the FAQ link at the top of forum pages and click on the "New Collector's FAQ" link.

Your Luger is a shooter grade pistol because it has been refinished. Because the recoil spring and other parts are blued, it was probably dip reblued, which is a characteristic of Russian Captured and VoPo East German reworked Lugers. Look for a large "X" symbol. Many of these have import marks somewhere too.

The good news is that it doesn't look like the sharp edges were buffed away in the process of refinishing it.

I can't see the rear profile of the frame, but the pistol is likely DWM made. Small markings inside would help identify this. Take pictures in shaded natural sunlight, and use a tripod and camera that can be focused sharply on markings and details.

9mm. I almost wish it was a 30 just because it would be different. A new caliber to learn all about.
I haven't seen any x markings. There is a letter b under the number on the barrel.
