1921 DWM just acquired
Good Day All,
Just got a call from a friend who owns a local firearms shop. He deals mostly in hunting and archery but knows I like "old" guns. So here it is. Is this a Police issue? There are no unit or import marks. All parts match and the grips do not have the "million dollar chip". What can you tell me about the "ers." stamp on the second magazine, is it a Police unit mark? The holster is in good condition but the take down tool is missing. The story with the gun is that it is a WWII bring back but it does not have any paperwork to prove it. The pistol, two matching magazines, and a nice holster for $900. What do you guys and girls think? |

No police as I don't see a sear or magazine safety. It still looks like you got an absolute steal of a rig at $900. Congrats!

Non-police holster and non-police configured Luger. Why do you believe it's a police Luger? I also agree that you got a great deal. Two matching mags!! Somebody chime in here regarding that one mag's stamping. What's dat? Enjoy it.

Dwm 1921
I was thinking it was a Police issue because of the stamps on the right side and the stamp on the magazine.

Great deal on a 1921 military luger.
I have no idea what the extra letters are on the one mag.

As Don says, it is a 1921 military. And as such is more desirable than a 1920 or 1921 police to some.
If the serial on the barrel and frame match the first mag, then it confirms you have a matching mag that looks to have been issued with the gun. Font on the second mag seems similar, but its numbers are spaced out more. Seems like I read somewhere ERS was the abbreviation for Ersatz, meaning substitute or replacement. And this mag does have the plus sign. Maybe it was not issued with the pistol initially, but was later added as a replacement. Overall a nice one, and for some reason you don't see the 1921's direct issue to military as often. |

Were I offered that rig for $900, it would already be resting in my safe. Looks to be an all original 1921 Luger with matching mags to me.
