Default Question about an overstamp

Any ideas what this is about?

Rack- or inventory number, applied by a buffoon.

No legitimate German official would ever just overstamp an official inspection or proof marking. Depending on the subsequent purpose the markings might be cancelled or removed completely, but the Germans were very conscious of retaining the chain of officialdom.

I agree with that too Dwight... but can't imagine any other reason for the stamp other than an arms room #...perhaps not a German arms room but later.

Regardless I did not attempt a purchase and am still looking.

As one who loves Arties I find this 'stamping' to be obnoxious and hateful, definitely NOT done by a German arms room employee. Very sad.
