Hi Pete!
Nice find! Is there a write up that accompanies that photo?? Based on what I see, it looks like a P-Code Series 1 - Mid Series (based on the C/N - The Commercial proof changed for the P1 Late Series). If it's indeed a P-Code Series 1 Mid range - it is extreamly rare and very highly regarded.... While I can't quite make out the proof (is it an eagle or a crown over the "N" in the photo?) - then it is a Series 1 Late (horizontal stamp). Not as rare as the Mid - but still a very nice piece! Very, very nice....!!!! John D. |

Sorry John D.,
Here is the page and the write-up and asking price of $ 6500 Euros... http://www.collector-arms.de/index.p...=20&suche=alle And a close-up of the serial number and markings : There is also a 1936 HK for sale with 1937 holster at the same price. Does not say if its a "36" or a "1936" variety, though. Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |

Hey Pete..!
Nice close-up picture!!! - Thanks!!!! It's definitely an Eagle over N, rather then the Crown, which makes it a late P Series 1 (although, with the serial - at the beginning of that range). Again - not as rare as the Mid, but very nice. Forgetting Internet sales for a minute, these usually go for $5000 - $6000 in 90% condition (and more from that baseline if condition is better), if verified/correct. Some Internet sales have jumped into several thousand more, depending on condition and provenance. I should check Gibson - but the spreadsheet I use have an estimated production of the late at 250 produced, which is slightly more then Mr. Gibson's excellent work. My thanks again for sharing that close-up photo! John D. |
