holster storage
I recently purchased a Luger gun stand and plan to keep my collection in the stands. I have several original holsters and some repros and would appreciate any advise on the best way to store them.

I'm no expert on old leather but I know what works for me. I have an extensive collection of military web gear and some leather items including holsters. I keep it all individually wrapped in plastic bags and then stored in plastic containers. And I keep it in any area of stable temperatures and a low humidity as possible which is tough when you live in the SE. The biggest threat to old web gear is mold and I suspect the same is true of old leather.

I recommend the use of bubble wrap to help keep the shape on old holsters... this is especially important to keep the belt loops from going flat and hardening in that position.
Store in low humidity...

I also store my holsters in gal. zip lock's, not so much to keep humidity out...but just to keep handling rash off... I also store them in plastic containers in a stable environment, Interesting to note...the only holsters that I have ever had mold problems with, are holsters that had previously been treated with a preserative of some type... Original holsters stay pretty nice just as they are... I agree with Johns assessment of bubble wrap for maintaining shape! best to all! til...lat'r...GT <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />
