Identifying A Test Luger Magazine

Eric, I just purchased a 1900 test luger #6786, It came with a tiny little 'flaming bomb' Mine has a tiny crack which added veracity to its authenticity, A Luger Collector and seller, informed me that years ago, he had been searching foa a mag for his newest acquition, a Test Luger, He forked over his weekly salary, for the mag, only to find out years later, as he tried to sell his test gun, that he had been duped, I am enclosing Thank to Ed a legit magazine, youl see just how small and how easy one could be manufactured using a early wooden blank mag and a steady hand and who could your dare to complain to, for more closup of the mag, luger or holster, please drop me a line, '[email protected]'

Eric, This demonstrate, if you buy without examining the mag first hand, lighting condition can alter the value, bringing a thee hundred mag, to a nine hundred mag, On the other hand, how many test mags have slipped through a sellers' hands.

I sold a M1900 AE (non Test) to a LF member about 3 years back with two woodend mag's stamped with the little flaming bomb proof. Gun was in the 85xx serial range.

Which bring up the questionm 'were they all marked alike and were they distributed with any other luger model or year?

The mark is just a German inspector's mark and has nothing to do with U.S. ordnance, so it is quite possible that you may find a magazine so marked in other models of Lugers.

well, are you contending that the magazine was produced, sent over and stamped here. well then did the same mag stampers stamp the same proof mark in the lugers, imported.

Ron, I'm with you on this subject. The misnomer of "Flaming Bomb" to this DWM inspector's symbol, found inside the TD lever well of the frame on most M1900 lugers (not just the test range) has been a source of more "BS" than any other topic, except perhaps "Black Widow" lugers. TH

The "flaming bomb" inspector's mark is not exclusively associated with the US Test Trial Luger, it can be found on many other 1900 models. Lots of folks will try to make claims that it is a US ordinance mark either out of ignorance or in order to boost the value/desirability of a Luger they are trying to sell, but that is a lot of bunk, or "BS" as Tom so rightly stated.

I must tell you about my new Kodak Camera that took the Picture of the bottom on the mag, above, Debbie bought me at Walmart for around $200, The Most excellant Kodak, Easy Share, Z612, with stabilization for those suffering, DTs, Kidding, has a 12x zoom, 6.1 mega pixils, The best by far is the newest kodack prosessing Software, One Tough, it touches up, pulls it up, places it as an attachment in a email, Soooo Cool, Just e-me, Ill send you copies of my us test Luger and Holster, that are being published in Europe, next month, Eric Esq, '[email protected].
