I sold my mint '02 AE Fat Barrel a few months ago. It wasn't fun, but you have to let go of them sometime...and I ain't getting any younger.

It's mentally painful to have to sell something you cherished and cared for for years! I've felt that pain too!

Thanks Mike, it is the best I have ever seen also. Like new straight from the factory. I was sorry to let it go but it is time to pass on things I have accumulated and enjoyed over the last 65+ years.

The only time one has to sell anything that is a source of satisfaction is if one needs the cash.

Not entirely true. Leaving family with the responsibility of finding a proper means of selling also is a consideration.

No. Your 1902 is a Commercial, a holster would have to be purchased separately. The 1900 U.S. Test was a military contract and the US ordnance produced the holsters at Rock Island Arsenal to be issued with the guns.

"Not entirely true. Leaving family with the responsibility of finding a proper means of selling also is a consideration."

A valid consideration, but not a necessity. One's Will could specify how to handle the estate. There would be an executor and no one else need worry about it.

You are missing the point. The family and/or executor probably will not have the contacts and collecting experience to properly dispose of a collection. That is why it behooves collectors to do it right and make sure all parties are taken care of...interaction with the buyers so they are assured they are getting the real deal, and make sure they pay full and fair value that will be passed on to the estate.

families would not know what gun belongs with what accessories. so some taggings system and inventory list for the family sure would be help.

Ron,

Everything you are saying is valid...as a choice. If you choose to sell your entire collection while you can, that is up to you and has to be respected.

The point is, and I'm repeating myself: The only time one has to sell anything that is a source of satisfaction is if one needs the cash.
