One More Value Question
Some of you will remember me from a previous thread as the collector who just lucked into a mint Mauser banner Police at a very attractive price. Since I am a condition nut, it fit perfectly into my collection. Anyway, when I was concluding the deal, the seller asked if I wanted to see any more Lugers, and of course I told him I certainly did. He brought out a couple of ammo cans and showed me two artilleries, three 1920 commercials in .30 caliber, and one G date. The G date was another absolutely mint gun, but the others were in 90 to 95% condition. Anyway, the G date was just superb, all matching of course, including the one mag (unfortunately it was the + marked spare), a minty brown beautifully marked holster (with waffenampt and maker's name, but I cannot find a date stamp anywhere), and a properly marked W154 loading tool. I snapped it right up at $1,000. Since I am so interested in condition, I haven't even asked him the price of the other Lugers he showed me, but on Tuesday we are going to go over his "really good" material and try to get to the P-38s and miscellaneous German military pocket pistols. What a week I'm having!
