Default Grip originality question

Guys,
I purchased this luger a while ago from my 70 year old neighbor along with a bunch of other Third Reich artifacts his father brought back with him. I believe this as he cleaned out him fathers belongings at his parents home when he died.
Either way, someone removed the grip panels at some point and chipped the one as you see in the pic. I want to have it repaired but when I removed it, this is the only marking I found on the inside.
Are these the original grip panels. The old guy says they are but I wanted to ask you guys. I've included pics so you know the pistol the grips are on. If you can't read the date it's 1939.
I have this on another forum but I think this one has more traffic,
Thanks in advance.
