S 42 Question
Hi everyone,
I have a question.......are there any 1939.......S42's in the 30xxt range? My research tells me this is a Code 42, 1939 with a S42 toggle train in it. It has the wa/63, wa/63, eagle over swastika on the left side of the receiver, and another eagle over swastika on the barrel, with a little star next to it. ANY idea what the star would be for? thanks, efm |

1939 42 30XXr serial
I have a 1939 with only 42 on the toggle in the 30XXr range and all the same proof marks as yours but no star.
Hope this helps. larry |

Gene, the highest serial number I have recorded for a 1939 S/42, is in the Q-Block. I suspect you are correct in assuming you have a 1939 Code 42 Luger with a S/42 toggle

my .02
I would believe that someone is try to make a more common gun into something a little more difficult to find, a 1939 S/42 series is more rare that a 1939 42, thus he can command a higher price. 38 thousand 1939 S/42's v.s. 85 thousand 1939 42's Jim

Thanks Jim,
So I should try to find a toggle train that matches the gun and sell or trade this one. If both trains (toggle assembles) are the in the same condition, is one more valuable than the other? I would like to trade striaght across for the proper one. Also, that star looks more like an Asteric.........does anyone know anything that could explain this marking? thanks in advance! efm |
