Default Breechblock number question

Hello - I field stripped my DWM Commercial, #8816M yesterday for the first time. There are no numbers on the left side of the breechblock, although there is the Crown N proof. Lugers at Random on p. 34 lists the breechblock as having the last two digits on the left side, but from a previous post I know his checklist is not always 100% accurate. The breechblock looks right for the gun, so I'm wondering if these were not always numbered. Thanks

Most post WW1 commerical lugers do not have serialized breech block, unless they were later reworked for the military. You may see 2 small digits on the rear of the BB, which are not serial numbers, but assembly numbers. TH
