Default nube question on police lugers

Hello everyone,
Kind of green on luger information and am looking to buy one. But am looking for some advise from you guys before I make a decision. My question is : I am assuming a banner luger is one with the mauser name on top not p-08 (If wrong please correct me ) but what makes it a police luger? Are there any markings I should look for ex: Like an L that would be on p-38 and ppk and Hsc. the year I am looking at is 1941.

yes and no, the P08 on the left is different than what is marked on top.

In 1941 you could find a byf that was marked 1941, while a banner luger would be a commericial

if accepted into police service it would have a sear safety and also a good chance of eagle L or eagle C on the right.

I know this seller and saw this gun in person, he's honest and the police gun is a nice one too.

Another question I am pondering. Would the holster for a police luger be any 1941 black holster or something special ?????

This sounds sarcastic, but its not, a correct holster would be a black (usually) 1941 police holster.

That said, you sometimes find them with different years or with army holsters. Many police were activated and became army, thus their weapons went with them.
