Default FINN MARKED LUGER

I picked up a Finn marked Luger and was hoping to get more information on how many and when these were purchased by Finland. It has the DWM logo on the toggle and a crown over N commercial proof of the left of the frame. It has a serial number on the front of the frame but have been unable to find any other numbers. The barrel has the post 1936 Tikka mark and is about .75 inch longer than a standard WW2 era luger. The grips are black plastic as is the button at the bottom of the magazine.Any information will b appreciated.

Dear Mr Ent! (Treebeard was an Ent Yanno, Dok knows)

The Finnish Military got about 8000 during the time frame of 1923 to 1929 in 7.65 mm and 4" Barrel. There were acquired from DWM and in the production block of no subscript, suffixs of m,n,p, r and u serial range. Mauser also supplied the Finnish Military with 1500 Lugers with the Banner trademark. MOST were later arsenal reworked replacing the grips with black plastic and in some cases replacing the barrels with 4" or 4& 3/4" barrels. Perhaps this is how you gun got its longer barrel, there were also parkerized. I assume yours has the SA marking on the left reciever? (Ref: Jan Still-AXIS Pistols, page 310) ~THOR~

Thor-- nice to hear from an educated man! Thanks for the information on the Finn Lugers with a reference --I'll try to find the book you referred to. This is the kind of hard information I was looking for. Yes--the SA mark is on the left side of the frame next to the crown over N proof mark. The barrel also has the Finn Tika factory mark and the caliber has been changed to 9MM. Now--if I can find a Finn marked holster. Frodo Lives!
