Default Unitmark 1916 DWM

The other day I got a 1916 DWM P.08. But I'm unclear on the blurry unit stamp. Can you help?

First question mark is either an "I" or a "T" and your "II" looks more like a "K" to me.

Unusually large font for a Unit mark...

You're right, it's a "K"
Thanks alanint
Is it: 2 I 1 C K 410?
Feel free to add your opinion!

I think I can see the inverted 'V' of an "M" there...

My WAG - 2 MCK 410

...But the 2nd figure could be a "G"...Making it 2 MGK 410

I'd have to agree with Rich. I also see an "M" there now.

Doug - Doesn't 410 Lugers in any company seem awful high???

A US company only has ~100 soldiers...

Possibly a missing "period". Others on the board here have mentioned that some units numbered their entire inventory of guns, (i.e. Rifles, MGs, etc)
It may depend on what the unit experts tell us the gun came from.

First of all thanks for your valuable comments!
I think we're close to solving this blurry stamp.
2 M C (G?) K 4 10 But what would be a "G" looks like a "C" for me.
Still, Imperial lugers page 135, there is shown a "C". The pages141, 142 and 145 show examples of a "G". I must admit that it looks like the letter "C" occurs rarely, whereas "G" seems more realistic.

Note the Serif on the "G". The marking has been sanded , but the tail of the serif is still visible.

Thank you Ron, I have no doubt any more.
Not many of the DWM P.08 from 1916 should have unit stamp.
So a little rarity is enough, even if some clown tried to delete this stamp. This luger forums is just great. THANK YOU!

And a US Company in WWI was considerably larger than in other armies.

Ron, is correct. It's 2.M.G,K.410, 2nd Machine Gun Company, Infantry Regiment 410 although I would expect to see the regiment number first.
