Magazine i.d. Help

Could someone help me to identify this magazine ?
Altough it's quite clearly stamped, I can't make out the suffix ( h ? ).
And what year is it ?
I'm looking for a correct magazine for my '36 S/42 #9367k.

Your suffix appears to be an "e", but this magazine has been scrubbed and renumbered and is not in the best condition to boot.

It may have once had the desirable stick eagle over "63" acceptance proof, but it is impossible to tell now due to the grinding it endured.

If you want a quality magazine to complement a quality, collectable pistol, this isn't the one.

I have to disagree with Doug, I don't think this magazine has been renumbered. Early Mauser magazines were sanded at the factory prior to numbering to remove a casting line, the photo shows one of mine. The droop eagle/63 inspection mark is correct for 1936, but the e suffix, I believe, is late 1935.

Sorry Norme, but I have to concur with Doug... I think the magazine has been renumbered. It may even be possible that it really is a "o" suffix just like your magazine...

I'm not that sure that there was a previous number as "if" there ever was some sort of sanding, looks more on the suffix side rather than on the number area. But I' m not sure at all about it.

But i'm still confused about which magazine suits my '36 best, a nickel plated body or a blued one ?

Hi Guido, Magazine tubes were usually blued in 1936, but some left over nickel plated 1935 magazine tubes show up occasionally.

In your first post, you mentioned that your 1936, S/42 was built in the k-block.

The year 1936 was a transition year for magazines and therefore during the late l-block into the m-block, Mauser started delivering blued body magazines. As with all transitions, there are no clear cut changeovers as existing parts are used up over time. But, it is safe to say that a k-block P.08 would have left the factory with a nickel plated magazine.

I'm thinking your magazine is worn but correct. Here is another close G date "e" suffix to compare.
