1920 American Eagle with 6 inch bbl

Gents: Just picked up this gun in about 95 to 98 % from a guy in central florida original finish and I am a bit confused. The gun has a 6 inch (navy bbl) not serial numbered but proofed and marked Germany. The gun does not have navy style sights. BBl Crown N proofed and marked made in Germany. the Frame Marked Germany as is the upper frame assembly. DWM marked American Eagle on the chamber area and 9 mm caliber. Wood magazine bottom marked Germany. I know this is the era where anything is possible, but what do I have and what is it worth? It is all original and not refinished including straw. Barrel is excellent. Took pics on my I phone, but cannot figure out how to up load them.
Just got a 1906 9mm Luger American Eagle also but that is the next topic of discussion as it is really interesting. Help please and do tell me how to upload pics if it will help.

Serial number77xx but bble not serial numbered all other numbers match last two digits

Stoeger and other importers would commonly custom install different, longer barrels.

Much appreciated and goes along way to understand why the bbl is not serial numbered even though it is marked made in Germany and has been on the gun forever. Nice American Eagle in great shape but a lot of things to learn from it. Thanks again.

The barrel is marked "GERMANY" because it was shipped as a seperate part.

that is even better, as that means it was made and ordered from Germany not added here.

No, just the opposite. The barrel and pistol were shipped
separately. Just like the 1920s magazines marked "GERMANY", they were so marked because they were separate when shipped. All singular items had to be marked with country of origin.

Were American Eagle guns common amongst the late commercials? I haven't seen that chamber marking post 1906.

A barrel marked "Germany" could have been installed any time between about 1920 and last week!

All P08 Commercials and all post-war Lugers are found without the American Eagle, except for Stoeger-marked imports. There are a handful of commercial database reports of AE in the Alphabet Commercial range; these are mostly assembled guns of unknown origin.

I have examined two examples of post-war commercials purporting to be authentic AEs, both were fake (I bought one for the example).

I am confident in the original statement, but would very much like to find originals to prove me wrong. Any post-war non-Stoeger American Eagle needs to br examined closely and critically.
