1920 DWM Luger (first one)
I just purchased a DWM Luger, marked with 1920 on the receiver ring, and is all matching except for an aluminum based s/42 magazine that came with it. It is in 9m/m Luger, with an excellent bore, which was brought back from WWII.
My first question would be, is this Luger a commercial one manufactured for the Police, or would it be made for the military. I will get the serial number and gather more information, but was curious what I have. I was told it was one of the most common Lugers. Is there some links someone can point me to, so I may begin learning about its' history. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated by a an old guy that just bought his first one. Thank you for your help and considerations. Last edited by Edward Tinker; 11-13-2017 at 02:26 AM. |

Welcome to the forum Generally, when folks say the most common, they are talking about what folks call a 1920 commercial, and is an actual commercial for sale in the USA pictures are needed, but if it has a 1920 date, then it would have started as an army made pistol, it should be in 9mm pictures are really needed to help. full left, full right, top and close up of major markings Ed

I will strongly suggest that you review the FAQ and stickys found on this forum. They contain a huge amount of Luger information that was supplied by a number of experts that belong to this forum. Congrats on your first Luger!!
