Thanks Norm!
I was just looking for a nice example of a Luger, wasn’t too particular as to what model or year, this popped up locally, and thanks to this Forum I learned what it was and was able to snag it. I am pretty tickled about it!! |

Hi Mike,
Most 1st Issue were retro fitted with the hold-open. If you look at the right side of your gun you will see the small inspection mark above the trigger showing completion of it's installation. Norm |

Yes, nice catch of a first issue.
Hold opens were added in 1913; some '13s had none, and the hold open was added later; later in the year they were added at the factory as "standard". those with the hold open added will have a script letter near the hold open pin on the right side. So one can find three "different" types of 1913 pistols, those with No hold open, or original , or added hold open. A "collection" in a single year! Your first issue would have had the hold open added in 1913 or later.
