krieghoff turmoil
Hello everyone;
I've been eyeballin' a late S code in about 75-80%(well, 80 is probably stretchin' it). Magazine is not correct for it. Muzzle has some pitting on one side. Question is, what is everyone seeing for prices for HKs in this condition? Is 2K way out of line for this piece? -stuart |

Hi sschultz....
If it is an all matched Late "S", then that is right on the numbers for a dealer/collector who knows about Kriegs. Please check the parts to be sure it is all matching. Also - is the MAG HK proofed? If so, it adds a bit. Here are a few of the entries you may want to be aware of from my HK database (I only pulled a few - and the full Serials are not posted) for late series "S" codes (est prodution ~1700 (source: RG)) over the past few years: Late "S" - serial number 2XXX - 90% - sold 1999 - $1700 - NMM/no rig Late "S" - serial number 3XXX - 95% - sold 1999 - $2150 - MM/no rig Late "S" - serial number 2XXX - 96% - sold 2000 - $2950 - NMM/no rig Late "S" - serial number 3XXX - 90% - sold 2000 - $3450 - 1-MM/RIG Late "S" - serial number 3XXX - 93% - sold 2001 - $3650 - NMM/no rig Late "S" - serial number 2XXX - 85% - sold 2001 - $3050 - MM/no rig Late "S" - serial number 2XXX - 90% - sold 2002 - $4100 - NMM/RIG Late "S" - serial number 2XXX - 98% - sold 2002 - $4250 - 2+ MM/no rig Best to you!!! |

Hi John;
Thanks for that info, its greatly appreciated. Are these "known" prices, meaning you are sure that they brought this, or are they the "asking" price from the dealer/collector? I should have asked this earlier, but what about reblues on a late S? Where do you see these fall? Again, thank you. -stuart |

Hi sschultz...
The prices in my database are what folks actually paid for these, rather then asking prices from the "seller". In the majority of the cases, the asking price has been the "selling" price (except for the RIG prices). As for re-blued HK's - it's really dependent on the quality of the "job". I've seen original side-framed inscribed "reblues" go for about $700, as all the edges have been smoothed over with aggressive buffing. At the other end of the extreme - I've seen a 1942-pitted mess be purchased for $1500 and sold for $2400 after it was professionally redone. It was sold as a "restoration", and appropriately marked as such to the buyer. If your Late "S" is a re-blue/restoration - please post some pics, and I'll try to help out, OK??? Best to you! |

Hi John;
No, the Krieghoff is not a reblue. Just curious what these would bring on an average. -stuart |

Hello sshultz:
FWIW Was at an auction in March 02. A reblued S-date HK serial #2159, holster and extra mag went for $2100...no buyers premium. It was a decent reblue, but not restoration. ken d |
