Default PRV on an '06 Eagle

I just acquired an '06 9mm American Eagle serial number 38241 and happened to notice a mark on the inside of the magazine-frame area. No proof marks except a DWM shield on the underside of the barrel and "GERMANY" on the front of the frame. I recall some conversation a while back about a marking on '08 bug proof commercial Lugers that is thought to be ""prv". I have studied this mark on my AE and also shared it with a fellow forum member who lives not far from me. He also thinks this mark is "prv". Keep in mind this a 1906 9mm American Eagle. If this is the same mark in the '08 commercial, this opens up a new round of thinking about personal military Lugers.

Mike your find certainly brings into question the widely held theory that the BUG proofed 08s with the Prv stamping are Officer private purchase.

Hopefully other members will chime in with more finds. The real question is "what does it mean?"

Checked my 06 AE 9mm #64165 with C/N proofs. No Prv stamp. If the pattern follows the 08 Commercials, the stamp will only be found on early BUG proofed models.

One year and 4 months later, here is another "prv". Just acquired a 1906 American Eagle 9mm from a forum member. Very nice Luger but an old but good restoration. This Luger has the "prv" in the magazine frame area. Serial number 31381.
