Re: NM GOT THE CONCEALLED CARRY
Hey Ted, Do you think we could borrow your governor for a while? We've got this "woosie" out here aptly named "Grey" that would never let that one squeek by! Hell, the only ones that are able to carry a concealed weapon are the criminals!!!!!!

Re: NM GOT THE CONCEALLED CARRY
Hey Milt.....It took years to make this happen. We had two guys that were running the Legislature that were "D"s. Seems like they thought the "D" meant DICTATORSHIP! People finally had enough of that crap! Thank goodness! Ted

Re: NM GOT THE CONCEALLED CARRY
Time to excercise that 01 Ted and order an East German Makarov if you haven't already. They usually come with a "Stazi" shoulder holster but pancake belt and other CC holsters are commercially available. Great little weapon too. Best regards - Bob

Re: NM GOT THE CONCEALLED CARRY
I looked at Mr. Per Jensen's website from Denmark and was struck by his admonition to us in America to not let our lawmakers take away our right to bear arms as happened in his country. I get pretty worked up talking about this subject so I won't rant here.

Re: NM GOT THE CONCEALLED CARRY
Gruss Gott,Ted!
I don't know just when AZ went with the CCW "must issue" law,but I've had my "permit" for about a year and a half. I shouldn't need it!There's such a thing called the Second Ammendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. As I've read on several occasions,if you have to obtain a permit to excercise a "right",it has ceased to be a Right and is now considered a "privelage"(dependent upon the permission of those in power). As such, the "privelage" may at any time be revoked by those same "Powers That Be". What we are actually doing(myself included!!) is voluntarily regestering ourselves as gun owners with the Gov't! Whose doors do you and I know they will come to first as soon as "Chucky Schumer and Billary Clinton" find a way to ram their "Stop gun violence"(by disarming law-abiding citizens) program through a government run by those affluent enough to be able to afford armed bodyguards,or if they can't(or won't out of their own pockets!) will have them provided by the state(meaning us, of course!) at no expense. We will be the ones to hear that knock or the battering ram dislodging the door from its hinges! Sorry for the political tirade!I've always been told to stay out of dicussions about both politics & religion.Forgive my failure to heed those wise warnings! In response I should have only said - I LOVE LUGERS and the RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS!Enough(more than) said. Anyway,I'm glad to hear that NM has in a way decided or may decide to uphold the US Constitution even if it isn't PC these days!I hope all goes well!!! Tschuss! Mark |

Re: NM GOT THE CONCEALLED CARRY
Licenses to carry are nice to have (they keep the law abiding citizen out of trouble with the LEA when you least expect to get patted down). They don't help much with the Luger (as it is hard to carry concealed unless you are a very big guy) but I am sure a nice 'baby' Luger would be concealable. Having had a permit (called a License to carry a Concealed Pistol or LCP here in WA) for 25 years, I have only had to produce it twice. Glad I had it. (Interestingly, it was called an LCW, or License to carry a concealed weapon, up until four years ago. Now it is pistol specific. Go figure).

Re: NM GOT THE CONCEALLED CARRY
The Luger would be hard press to put into action fast and carrying it with a locked firing pin blocked by the safety is not a great think in my view. I much prefer the H&K 45 Compact that I plan to carry, or my PPK when deep concealment is the only way to go or as a backup. I also will carry (and do ) a P.38 occasionaly, I find this design quite robust (except the hammer drop on WWI is to be treated with a little more care than the modern weapons due to stress concentrations on those 90 degree corners of the flat firing pin). I like the P.38, it's reliable, accurate enough, and fits my hand good. The DA is not the best in the world but would work famously in the handshaking distances I MIGHT use it in! The prospect of having the firing pin spring under constant compression (espcially when in a hot car in 100 degree temps) makes me a little concerned about a weaken spring! Ted

Re: NM GOT THE CONCEALLED CARRY
Mark, I like the way you think and look at this subject. Maybe you saw my other post in this thread. I referred to Per Jensen's website and his admonition to us americans to not let the government take away our second ammendment rights. I believe that the second ammendment only recognizes the right that we are born with, as men, to protect ourselves with arms. No man or group of men (government) can take that away from us unless we let them. I have hesitated to apply for a concealed carry license for exactly the reasons that you have put forth. If the damneddemocrats (one word) have their way, they will come calling one day to confiscate our weapons. And they will start with the concealed/carry licensees, make no mistake! Oh well, here I go! I try not to rant but there are some things we have to be passionate about. btw what does "Tchuss" mean?

Re: NM GOT THE CONCEALLED CARRY
Congratulations Ted and New Mexico. No matter what the implications are for having to have the CCW, it is just another law and this is a good one. As Americans we are allowed to freely travel to any part of the US we choose, but we are not allowed to drive as fast as we would sometimes like and this is the law. If I want to carry a handgun, I will obey the law. If you are worried about the government and your guns, the CCW is way down on the worry list.

Re: NM GOT THE CONCEALLED CARRY
Gruss Gott,Rick K.!
As regards your question as to the meaning of "Tschuss!",it's just the Deutsch equivalent of "bye!".It's much less formal and stuffy sounding than "aufwiedersehen!".It's just a more familiar and friendly way of expressing the same meaning. Tschuss! Mark |
