1906 Navy serial
Was checking on what appeared to be a '06 Navy, has 100/200 sights, grip safety, DWM toggle, blank chamber, 2nd issue safety, crown/M (and also maybe crown/N) receiver marks. Serial is in the 6xxx range with maybe a "b" suffix. Did the '06 Navies reach that high?
Also, what would be a decent value on a mismatched or refinished Navy? Thanks. |

Re: 1906 Navy serial
Re 06 Navy, Gortz & Walter's book, page 26, indicats that this four digit "b" suffix pistol would be truly a "second issue" with the original safe position downwards. The then highest number seen wwas 998b. This sample, if original, would obviously be higher. My 06 Navy is 544a and is altered, as expected, but has no proofs except for the crown on the breechblock. I don't believe it is known how many 06 Navies were made in the "b" block. Of course, news is always welcome!
