P.08 Trigger & Trigger Guard dimensions
I saw where John Sabato's 2005 offer of a CD for 1913 P.08 blueprints was resurrected and it got me to thinking about dimensional weirdness with P.08 trigger and trigger guard dimensions. I don't think I've ever seen a post anywhere that addresses the dimensional variances, so I thought I would create a post about it.
Specifically, the dimensions vary quite a bit. I thought that was a bit odd since the trigger and trigger guard has very little to do with either function or accuracy so why were they constantly changing dimensions? I doubt that the variances comprise a plus-or-minus value. Now, I am a piker with only 5 Lugers to my name so I don't have a large statistical data base of information here. The 5 chamber dates are: 1915 DWM Army model 1916 DWM Navy (model of 1914) 1928 DWM commercial "r" Alphabet series 1937 Mauser S/42 2nd variation Army model 1941 Mauser byf Army model Below is the width of the trigger guards and the width of the triggers. The trigger guards were measured at the bottom of the trigger guard, very close to the tip of the trigger itself. The trigger widths were all measured as close to the geocentric middle as I could get with a micrometer. All dimensions are in inches. 1915 DWM, TG width= .413", Trigger width= .433" 1916 DWM (Navy), TG width= .448", Trigger width= .424" 1928 DWM (Comm.), TG width= .470", Trigger width= .427" 1937 Mauser, TG width= .457", Trigger width= .424" 1941 Mauser byf, TG width= .466", Trigger width= .431" I will leave any conclusions to those of you with more wisdom (and Lugers!). I will note that these 5 P.08's span from most of WW1 to almost the end of WW2. Also if anyone chooses to provide dimensions for 1900's and 1904's then please jump in. -Bob Last edited by velodog455~; 06-09-2024 at 10:08 AM. Reason: Mo clarity |
