I think we are there......
OK....
It's been a long day.... Some of you are on the new circuits - and the throughput is peaking at 4.9 Mbps rather then the old circuit at 1.4Mbps. Right now - only the Forums and 1 FQDH is on this.... Anyway - I'm trying to bring things up gracefully, so through the weekend - let's see what happens... Thanks.... John D. |

Big difference even at my work location John D... I haven't tried from the dial-up at home yet... will try to do that tonight.

Hey Johnny/John..!
Thanks!!! Well, today was a great test - as everyone seems to be coming in on circuits that: 1) actually stay "on" 2) are now running at 4X the old speed... Anyway - for just the sites on this server (firearms/autos), we had about 1200 - 1400 folks logged in at about 2:30 PM <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> I was really, really pleased with the performance! As well - still looking at the software upgrade, but again - if I do that, I'll need to plan on a slightly more powerful server, so I'll keep you posted.... My thanks again! And John S. - let me know how it comes up on dial-up, OK??? Thanks! John D. |

I have used both the last two days.
There is a diff, but only a bit on dial up. I actually attribute it to damn dial up being so ^*(^% slow, not cuz of you!!! Thanks, it seems fast on dads DSL in Wershington this afternoon! Ed

Folks still use that arcane technology???? Sheeessshhhh....... (Actually - my first site was on a 56K frame relay in 1997. Since then - and when Al Gore "invented the Internet" - technology actually got faster.. I have no idea how, without Al driving "his invention" - but, what do I know??? ) JD |

A job?? I think that I need one of those things. Sometimes I think that I need one now that I am retired, just to get some rest.
