Stu, I can't make out the bottom proof mark, can you discribe it to me. With the number 2 on top this makes it a police mag, late Weimar about 1926 to early nazi period about 1936. I know I have several rigs that are Weimar reworks, and new manufacture, with this type mags, just not sure which at this time. Costanzo in WOL list this exact HS proof mark, #170 page 233, "this trademark was used from 1919 to through 1940". I do not believe it was placed on mags until mid 1920's....hope this is of some help.

The proofmark is possibly a Simson Eagle/6, but as you said it is not too clear.

Hi,
That is a "dove" which is very common on the early Haenel police magazines. This magazine is usually found in the reworks of the Weimar era. In my opinion this is the Haenel dove trademark which is used instead of the HS (initials) which are found on some of the magazines.

Thanks all. Sorry for the lack of information. I don't have this mag yet, it's coming with a '1920's' DWM 7.65 commercial I purchased in a moment of weakness, (I suspect I've paid way to much for this gun).

Do you think I'd find a board member with whom I could exchange it for one appropriate to the commercial pistol ? I've no idea about relative values.

Stu, I am sure the mag is of interest too me as I collect Weimar period mags/guns that are police connected, and I bet I can find an commerical mag of equale value if you care to trade, I sure I got a few here. please let me know when you are ready and I can be reached at [email protected] or here on the forum. And thanks goodness for moments of weakness or I would not have half the toys I got, my wife would just blow the money on house payments and food.

That sounds great. I should take delivery sometime late next week so I'll get more pictures of the mag and details on the gun and we'll see if we can sort out an equitable trade.

Thanks, Stu
