Lugerman Refinishing
I was curious if any of you knew Eugene Golubtsov aka Lugerman? I had an old Hensoldt sniper scope I sent him for refinishing. He of course told me it would take a while (a few months) but he has had it since April. He responded to a few of my initial update requests but over the past month, he has totally stopped replying to my emails. He also will not return voicemail messages.
My only recourse now is to consider my parts stolen and file a police report. I am ready to do this, but before I do, I thought I would reach out to the Luger community to see if something possibly happened to Eugene that I am not aware of i.e. medical issue or similar. Any insight or help you can provide would be most appreciated. Thanks! Rob Pugh Tampa FL |

Rob,
Don't rush into anything yet. Eugene is a member here and everybody knows he takes awhile to return things, but his work is excellent. I'm sure he will see your message here and respond. Three months is actually not all that long for his turaround. Eugene is a straight up guy and has not taken your property. He is always slammed with work and will get to your scope as quickly as he can. |

He apparently doesn't like to answer when he knows that he isn't able to give you the answer that you are looking for. His time frame is just long and drawn out. Three months is not a long time for him - for almost any job. Just be patient and "in do time he will get your job finished."
Getting shipments out doesn't seem to be his forte. Jack |

As Gary said, and a hint to others, before doing biz with anybody, do a search on the company or person.
Less positive usually equals something fishy

When I was gathering parts to rebuild my Luger I tried Lugerman to buy some of my parts from but he never replied to any of my e-mails. I couldn't understand someone advertising parts for sale and then when they have a buyer do not respond. I was forced to purchase my parts elsewhere.
I plan to send my Luger out to be expertly re-done and blued as I'm not completely happy with the color I got when I did it. I'm still looking for who would do a decent job for a reasonable price but I know where it won't be going.

Board member Thor has a steller reputation for refinishing lugers.

Thanks gents. I got an email from him today, and he is alive and well and should have my scope back to me soon. Eugene was very up front with me that he takes a long time to turn things around, but he did give me a time frame on when the work would be done. When that time came and went and I was no longer receiving updates when prompted, I was obviously concerned. It just comes down to communication with me. Anyway, I'll keep everyone up to date on what happens and post some pictures of the scope when I get it back.
Thanks again for everyone's replies. I've got a couple broomhandles and hope to add a Luger to the collection some day. When that happens, I'm sure I'll be back as a more premanent member. |

my experience with Eugene
I will post this timeline and let you decide if you want to do business with this fellow.
May 7, 2012 - sent email to "Luger man" via his web sight inquiring as to the availability of 2 P08 parts. > May 7, 2012 - received response to inquiry, yes parts are available, and how to post payment yada, yada, yada. >May 7, 2012 - sent order and check for payment. waiting... June 26, 2012 - emailed inquiry as to why parts which were already paid for (cashed and returned cancelled check) were not sent. > June 26, 2012 - quick reply. "I will send them out this weekend." waiting... July 26, 2012 - emailed inquiry about parts >no reply waiting... August 12, 2012 - sent inquiry w/snide note. If anyone really wants to do business with this guy I have only one comment...caveat emptor |
