I have always found strawing to look the best with regular light bulb lighting!

In Florida, the best is late in the afternoon under a picnic table umbrella. This way you avoid shaddow and direct sunlight. The opaque glass table for a back ground works great. I should have waited as there would not have had the glare!!

On some other types of closeups photos I have had good success on a bright sunny day but working in solid shape such as the north side of the house or in the shade of a large tree. It gives good bright light but very little glare.

I like the results of the restoration!
