Are you all sure is it not ...geschloss? Hard B = double S.

Schloss= castle, fortress, maybe "solid" as a adjective?

Someone here speaks/writes German here for sure!

It is "Geschoß". The "ß" (looks like a Greek "beta") is a German double-s, i.e. "ss". So written that way it is "Geschoss" and means bullet or projectile. If you use it on another forum and you don't have a way to type the "ß" then write it out as "Flacspitzengeschoss", it will make more sense than "Flacspitzengeschob"

By the way, a literal translation of Flacspitzengeschoss is "flat point bullet" and you will usually see it referred to as a "truncated cone" bullet in English text.

I would indeed shoot your new pistol. I bought one just like yours, only with a 6" tube and have fired it several hundred times. The Mauser Parabellums reintroduced in the early 70's were probably the best "Lugers" ever built. The metallurgy of these weapons and the workmanship they display are absolutely second to none!

This is one of the reasons I bought this version to shoot. The only thing it doesn't have is the vast history involved with many of the war time "bring-back" Lugers.

There are 2 lead bullet molds available which almost replicate the original truncated bullet design; one is made by RCBS and the other by NOE.

By all means shoot your Luger and let others see you shoot it and allow them to shoot it. The Luger was a very important part of history in the first half of the 20th century that deserves to be used and celebrated for the beautiful mechanical design it was.......................
