It took me 10 years to find my first Imperial Navy stock and untold hours of study to determine what I was really looking for/at. That was before the internet. I have collected 2 more since and looked at quite a few rejecting them all. I would buy most any legitimate unmolested original Imperial Navy stock but while the stocks are extremely rare.. legitimate unmolested original ones are even more so. Many are sanded or without serial numbers on the iron. I am never interested in either.

A fellow collector showed me a Navy stock broken to pieces..it was a crying shame but an opportunity as well. I attempted to see just how firmly stock discs are placed in the wood. Try as I might..I found that these discs are likely pressed into an exact hole and are virtually impossible to pry out. Certainly not possible without damaging the wood around the disc. Changing discs out willy nilly is just not very likely.

While it may not be appropriate..Ralph reached into my pocket and stole niggardly amounts of money from a novice collector once upon a time..not once but twice. In the years since there was constant commentary from collectors I met, of outright theft. One was a very close Friend .. Ralph stole a Luger pistol from him. It's a long story but suffice it to say I have personal up close experience of Ralph's thievery and I vowed then, and now, that if his name and reputation came up, living or dead, I would tell the World just the kind of thief and con man he was.
He was charming on the occasions I met him but that was part of his con man personality. Like any collector, I am sure he had legitimate pieces and some fakes. He died filthy rich...but if he was scrupulously honest he would have died filthy rich anyway. So it wasn't the money. It was a weak moral character.

Here's a little ancient history that you young folks may not be aware of. Back in 2002 Ralph Shattuck announced, with much fanfare, that he had discovered a hitherto unknown Luger variation, a 45 cal carbine. He claimed to have located it on a ranch in Montana and christened it "The 1 Million Dollar Gun". By this time collectors were getting a little wary of Shattuck and the carbine turned out to be the last straw. All hell broke loose on this forum with supporters and detractors getting increasingly heated and the upshot was that the leading detractor, Jan Still, left to start his own forum.
I've tried to post a link to one of these old threads, but this forum seems not to permit links. If you search "45 cal carbine" you will find one of these threads titled "Who's going to Reno on 8-16 to 8-18".

I do not have good news: The double mag pouch is Portuguese, the stock is not one that was made in Germany. It should have a C/M on the wood. It seems that never the correct leather strap was on the wood.
