Jerry, I presume that your spelling of "Hillary" reflects your opinion of her as a world leader and probable front running candidate for president. All I can say is that I agree with you!

Herb, Sorry for the mispelling...Hitlary was what I meant!
Tom, What could tac's take on it be but utter amazement and frustration at the bloody lunacy of the politico's in GB? What we should be doing is trying to find a better way to slow down the growth of the pink mold...it would be the green thing to do! Jerry

I spent three years in England working as a DOD civilian on our Air Force bases (1976/1979), RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, RAF Fetlwell, and RAF Alconberry. At the time anybody could own a shotgun. I remember shooting trap and sheet at some of the bases gun clubs along side of British folks who could shoot there too. I found it interesting that a lot of British folks used black powder shotguns. So a round of sheet could take awhile. Anyway the point I'm getting to. Was when I got ready to come back to the states. I had more problems on our end trying to ship back a shotgun I had. And ended up selling it to a Air Force servicemen.

I didn't intend for this to be a one up between our two countries.
The gun laws and restrictions here are often as asinine if not more so than in Great Britain or elsewhere. In fact, tac and I discussed and compared the laws between the U.S. and G.B. fairly extensively during his recent visit here. Certain handguns to be legal in G.B., are required to have a rod attached to the butt of the grip to make them an overall legal length. That same handgun here in the states could be classified as being a stocked (illegal) hand gun by merely attaching a butt plate of some sort to the rod. He can't own a .357 hand gun, however he does legally own a .308 Tactical Sniper rifle. During the assault rifle ban imposed by daddy Bush, we couldn't buy any assault rifle type firearm that had a Falsh Supressor, Bayonet Lug and detachable magazine with a capacity of more than 10 rds. You could however own one with two or fewer of these features, but not all three. Who lays awake at night, or sits behind a desk picking their nose and thinking up this crap. And before this goes off subject and gets political. George Bush Sr. (conservative) got the assault rifle ban passed. Bill Clinton(liberal) signed the bill into law. Sarah Brady(conservative) wrote and got the Brady Bill signed into law. So both sides have and do share responsibility in this bonehead crap. Even "W" was against letting the assault rifle ban expire.

Once you reach a point where you can discuss what a government will or will not allow you to own, you have already lost. In both countries (UK and US) we are talking about what our respective governments still "allow" us to have. That's chapter 12. Freedom was lost way back in chapter 2.
