Default 1913 markings

I have a 1913 Luger with markings on the front strap. Can I find the history of this gun? B13RMG15

Dale

The unit marking on your Luger means; B. Bavarian, 13R.Thirteenth Infantry Regiment, MG. 15. fifteenth machine gun company. The R could also stand for Reserve regiment.

The 13 Infantry regiment was part of the 6th Bavarian Division. If this regiment was the 13 Reserve it made up part of the 5th Bavarian Reserve Division.

The book, History of the 251 Divisions of the German Army Which Participated the Great War, explains the expierences of the regiments that made of those Divisions.
