Default 1908 Commercial-

For your viewing pleasure, I offer a minty 1908 Commercial, serial number 42484, 9mm, no hold open, BUG proofed, all matching, 99% blue and 99% straw and perfect grips. Original un-numbered magazine in equally mint condition (appears to be the spare as it is marked with the "+"). The rear of the magazine well is marked with a "P". This is an original un-restored beauty! Just about perfect, with just the slightest muzzle and side plate wear. The STORY: Allegedly this P08 was found this in a desk drawer of the Reichstag in Berlin, no further details. I don't know about the STORY, but this P08 is no fairy tale! If someone can tell me the approximate year of manufacture, that would be much appreciated. Please share if you can offer a better original finish 1908 Commercial. All comments, info welcome. Enjoy!

I'd like to see a photo of the "P" marking on the magazine.

I believe the P marking was the one in the magazine well, not on the magazine itself. No?

Yes, the "P" stamp is inside the magazine well of the frame and not on the magazine (see last pic). I believe some think this P stamp equates to a private purchase by officers, but I don't think that has been 100% verified. There are "P" stamps on Swiss 1929 mags, but nothing to do with these commercials. Thanks for the kind responses, anyone able to estimate a date of birth?

Very nice pistol. Most likely made sometime in 1909.

Thank you John and the rest of you.
These 5 Lugers were all acquired several decades ago and I have been fortunate enough to hang on to these and several military Lugers, PPk's, P38's etc. The 70's and 80's was a good era for Luger and German Auto hunting. I am in the South West and it is much slimmer pickings these days at gun shops and shows. A few months back a fine collection of about a dozen Lugers including a 1900 Swiss, Couple of Navy's, GNR and 1920's carbine came into a local gun shop. But that is extremely rare. I have yet to buy any from the online sites, but that is mostly due to price. As you can see I like all original examples in excellent condition and you have to pay pretty high for that these days. Plus I don't travel back East where they go to shows. Ever since they closed the Great Western Americana Gun show in Pomona CA years ago it has sucked for collecting out here. Oh, and what they want for a shooter Luger out here is ridiculous, plus they all think it is a big collectors piece. I know I am preaching to the choir and I digress..........good day to all.
