could you show a few more views and close up?
And do load them on the server here so they can be enlarged and won't disappear. From what I see it is a replaced barrel, maybe home made with a one off "ramp".

It's very interesting. The ramp is from a military rifle; you can see the cuts for the hood. The barrel is flanged where it screws in, and the taper is extreme. Quite well done, from the limited view.
What caliber is it???

This is a pick from 2006 some one was asking about. They had inherited the gun Don't know the caliber. But a very unique barrel.

One would suspect one of two methods perhaps.
All integral; barrel, rib, sight..........large mill, rotary table, and know how by the maker. I see custom rifle barrels with these features starting at 2K plus for the machined barrel blank. Of course, to be integral on all notions, one has to start with a blank whose overall diameter allows for the projections; larger the blank, the more expensive the blank barrel to start with typically. parts; turned barrel, rib, and ramp. Rib and ramp could be integral, but not necessarily. Soldered together after fitting to one another. Cutting the recess in the rib for the tapered barrel takes time and then usually always is some fine hand fitting with medium. The ribbed barrel is expensive to make or at least, time consuming due to the effort to get a fine result. |

Could be all of the above.

To me it looks like some sort of homemade fitted barrel.

Sorry Don, it looks to have the wrong taper to be an original Navy barrel. I vote with the custom fitted barrel crowd.

I have no doubt it is a one off job; not that it makes much difference!
