Default Problem with toggle assembly in 1940-42

Have a complete toggle assembly in a 1940-42 that will not chamber a round, (round is partially chambered) and will not hold open and does not seem to click down solid when pulled back and released. I have tried other toggle units and they work fine. something wrong but I cannot figure it out.

Detailed pictures from all angles may help someone here to spot the problem. Otherwise it just may be a tolerance problem where dimensions of the receiver and the toggle train are not compatible; i.e., a tight receiver and a large toggle train with each within specs.

I would suspect the "S" link or mainspring.

thanks Don, didn't think it would be the recoil spring because other toggles work in the gun. Never thought of the coupling link . Am about ready to give up on this luger since I also found a broken firing pin.

If the toggle articulates and slides easily in the receiver, the "S" hook is about the only missing "link".
It may be twisted a little, sprung to too long, or the wrong one(a 1900 type).

Especially if other toggles work.

I think you are correct, it does look a little out of shape. Too many little issues with this gun. Not good enought condition to spend much in parts since I found a broken firing pin and no hold open. thanks for your help
