Black fxo Magazine Question...?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=4078
I may be quite wrong, but is it proper for a black plastic fxo type magazine to have 4-digit serial numbers stamped on the magazine bottom ? Regards, Pete... |

Pete; Jan Still might get mad at me for this, because I don"t know for sure, but it seems like I read somewhere, that some of the very first ones were numbered.

Hello Lonnie,
Since the black plastic is very brittle, do the number stamps get heated up so the die numbers just sort of melts/cuts into the plastic...? Regards, Pete... |

Pete; that would sound right. As you know, these magazines are getting hard to find without cracks, etc.

Pete, don't believe everything you see on Ebay! It is my understanding that none of them were numbered, however I have not seen this info in print, just from seeing many of them advertised for sale. I just bought a 42 byf from a dealer that said the black plastic bottom mag had a matching serial#, When I got it the mag bottom not only did not have numbers, it was broken in half! You still going to the Big Reno Show next month??

Hi Guys! I have seen several numbered Mauser fxo type black plastic bottoms that I believe to be original... but, the numbers were very well done, and, I believe they were pantographed or cut through a stencil.. some say that they are correct for the ku variation, this would be just a guess on my part... another thing to remember that these bakeolite bottoms were pretty close to indestructable when new... the plastic degrades over time.... thats about all I can say on the subject! Good luck! tilll...later....GT
