Default Mauser Crest Question

Any idea as to what country this crest belongs to? My dad has a Mauser rifle in brand new condition with this Crest.

Default Yogoslav Coat of Arms

Rather than chance a copyright infringement by copying the image, let me direct you to this page of Flags of the World in reference to socialist Yugoslavia.

It does look like a 1963-1991 Yogo Crest.....

More likely the 1946-1963 crest with five torches as opposed to six. An older rifle then. Would you post pictures of the whole rifle? Someone in the Forum will probably be able to identify it.

Yes, I looked at it again and you are correct! The Torches tell all, the "ribbon" is a "full" one vs. the half, (on the photo) I went by that on my initial "look". (transitional?)

Thanks again, my dad who is 79 years young has had it in the collection for some time. It has no import markings .... He must have bought it back "in the day"?

In the book "Mauser Military Rifles of the World" there are two photos of this crest labeled Yugoslavian Comunist crest in the section on Serbia/Yugoslavia.

I have a WWII German K98k rifle that was refurbished by Yugoslavia and this Crest is on the top of the receiver......it is definetly Yugoslavian.

The refurbishment of the K98k was to scrub the German stamping and a couple of mixed parts. It is one of the most accurate K98k rifles I have ever fired. When I want to shoot bolt actions, this is the on I go to.
