Fellow members and users,

Has anyone ever been bannished from LugerForum to post only on Jan Still's 'Allied pistols used during WW1 and WWll' or, worse yet, only on Yahoo Forums?

Russell

P.S. Great looking gun! How does it shoot?

Hugh, You can find original issue lanyards dated 1917 for this pistol pretty inexpensively. ONLY get the WW1 U.S. issue. The WW2 ones are no good. Pretty nice pistola hombre. Jerry Burney

Craig et al,

Commercial model, not military, SN C13761, which puts it in the latter part of 1914, the third year of production, the last patent date is 1913. All original high polish Colt blue finish with wear in spots, all matching numbers, original diamond checkered grips and a mirror bore.

Came from a 90 yr old ex dealer's collection. It supposedly belonged to a former WWI Army Colonel who purchased it after he mustered out because they wouldn't let him keep his military 45 and he wanted one. However the previous owner doesn't remember the Colonels name so any provenance is doubtful. However, I didn't "buy the story", just the gun. The wear on it is consistant with being carried some in a holster and being held and shot, but it was very well maintained, which an Army officer would be in the habit of doing.

I have found a period Heiser holster on ebay that is on its way to me, should make a great combo. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, hopefully later this week.

Jerry, I've been checking those out on ebay, I'll probably try to pick one up for it.

Default Shot my 2 new 45 Autos

I shot my two new 45 Autos this morning and can't decide which one I like the best Below are pictures of the other one. Yep! it is a first generation Colt SAA made in 1906 chambered in 45 ACP & with adjustable sights added .
The 1911 definitely has the sights calibrated for 230 gr ball, as it shot the 185 gr and 200 gr handloads way high, but was right on with factory 230 gr FMC.

Hello Hugh,
All I can say is WOW!! Two very nice guns to say the lease. Three of my all time favorites 1911, P08, Colt SAA. Guns today just don't have that appeal that these old ones have.

Michael is right! Three favorites of mine too! All beautiful. I have never bought a SSA but would if the right one came along. They make great shooters. I like those grips! Jerry Burney
